I have a situation where I have two separate CISCO 4506 switches that are assigned separate subnets. One switch is 8.62.120.0 and the other is 8.62.121.0. My esxi servers do not have trunks into both switches. They only have one or the other, Both esxi servers belong to the same datacenter on a 5.1 vcenter.
My goal is to vmotion between the esxi servers that are on different switches. I am wondering if I can create a vlan on a distributed switch and create my own subnet that spans the switches? We contract out our networking to another group so I cannot do spanning tree or any other configuration changes on the 4506's.
Thanks,
